Today, the Men’s Foursomes Handicap final took place on a blustery yet beautiful winter’s day. The much-anticipated showdown featured the number one seed, Will Bate, partnering with Tim Patterson, facing off against the number three seed, Brent Scott, and Russell Visser. Excitement filled the air as spectators eagerly awaited the outcome of this thrilling final.
Will and Tim got off to a strong start, winning three of the first five holes, creating the impression of a one-sided affair. As the pair reached the ninth hole, they held a commanding three-hole lead, and their winning streak continued through the 11th hole. However, Brent and Russell showed their mettle, managing to halve the twelfth hole. The match’s momentum shifted when some errant tee shots on the 13th hole were followed by a redeeming shot over the left-hand side trees.
Brent and Russell capitalized on their opponents’ momentary struggle, winning the 13th and 14th holes. Despite their valiant efforts, their opponents’ lead proved too substantial. Will’s impressive length and skillful wedge play, combined with Tim’s precision-shaped shots, ultimately sealed the victory on the 15th green, with a final score of 4 & 3.
Congratulations to the 2023 Foursomes Handicap Champions, Will Bate & Tim Patterson. They displayed remarkable teamwork and skill throughout the final, making them deserving victors.
