Speed of Play Tips

  • Maintain Pace of Play: Always keep up with the group in front of you. Falling behind can cause delays and frustration for others on the course.
  • Play Ready Golf: Be prepared to play when it’s your turn. Don’t wait for others in your group to hit if you’re ready. This will help keep the game moving smoothly. Efficient Tee Shots: On the tee box, don’t waste time. Hit your shot promptly and allow others to do the same.
  • Limit Practice Swings: Practice swings are essential but keep them to a reasonable number (one or two). Excessive practice swings can slow downplay.
  • Keep an Eye on Your Ball: Be aware of where your ball goes after each shot. If there’s a chance it may be lost or out of bounds, play a provisional ball to save time.
  • Search for Lost Balls Efficiently: If a ball is lost, try to find it quickly. If needed, enlist the help of your fellow golfers to speed up the search.
  • Maintain Focus on the Green: When on the green, be ready to putt when it’s your turn. Line up your putt while others are putting to save time.
  • Walk with Purpose: Move efficiently between shots and holes. Avoid unnecessary delays in getting to your ball or the next tee.
  • Be Respectful of Others: Refrain from distractions and noise while others are playing. Allow them to focus on their shots.
  • Comply with Warnings: If you’ve received warnings about pace of play before, take them seriously. Ensure that you keep up with the group in front to avoid further action.
  • Consequences for Delays: If found out of position, be prepared to catch up with the group ahead. Failure to do so may result in walking a hole to speed up play.
