Due to today’s extreme weather conditions the weekend scheduled championship round has been affected to the point that today’s Championship round has been cancelled.
We were left with no other option after several delays and several attempts to complete the round.
Our main objective in the following decision was to have as few members as possible being affected by any decision that was made, especially in extending the dates further where members may not have been available.
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT THE REMAINING ROUNDS OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
At this stage, the Women’s Championship rounds remain unaffected and will continue as scheduled.
The Men’s Championship will now revert to 54 holes for A Grade and 36 holes for B, C, D Grades.
Any weekday 1st round that was played this week will count so B, C, D grades that have already played will have that round count as their round 1 score.
The Championships will now be played as follows;
Sunday 6 October
- A Grade Round 1. All players will be notified in a separate email with a handicap seeded draw being played.
Wednesday 9 October
- The scheduled 2nd weekday championship round has been cancelled. A Medley Stableford round will now be played.
Saturday 12 October
- B, C, D Grade round 1. Those that have played a midweek round will not play this day as your round has already counted to the overall 36 hole event.
- A Grade round 2.
Sunday 13 October – Super Sunday
- A Grade round 3 – seeded draw for the top 12 qualifiers using the count back method.
- B, C, D Grade round 2 – seeded draw for the top 12 qualifiers using the count back method.
Junior Championship
- will be played over 36 holes on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October.
Veterans Championship
- will be played over 36 holes with the 1st round being played on either the weekday round Wednesday 5 or Saturday 12 October and the 2nd round being played Sunday 13 October
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October
- This weekend may be utilised as a spare weekend in the unfortunate event that another day or days are affected by extreme weather conditions.
We trust that members understand that all possible options were put before us in making this decision where it was deemed less members will be affected by reducing the Championship rounds as opposed to changing advertised dates in attempting to keep 72 and 54 holes respectively.
We wish all members participating in the Championship good luck and good golfing.
