JF Mulvany Results

On Saturday, the J.F. Mulvany Trophy was played in conjunction with the Men’s April Medal. The winner would be determined by the best nett score among participants aged 50 and over, with entry being automatic. The event was first established in 1961 and claimed by D. Jackson; this event has been an annual tradition for the past 62 years, except for 2020 due to Covid-19. Joseph Mulvany, after whom the event is named, served as a judge of the County Court and was a member of Green Acres since the club’s inception. Born in 1904, he sadly passed away in 1964, only two years after the inaugural tournament.

On Saturday, 142 entrants battled it out to be the 63rd recipient of the J.F. Mulvany Trophy, and only one could be the winner. With some sizzling scores, only one man was the clear winner, with a net 68. Congratulations to the 2024 winner, Rob Mallard.
Last year, Rob achieved a remarkable milestone by being inducted into the prestigious Green Acres Hall of Fame. As part of this esteemed honour, he had to meet a series of requirements, one of which was winning multiple board events. However, the elusive J.F. Mulvany title had evaded him for several years. But not anymore.

Well done, Rob!
