Men’s & Women’s Matchplay Results

Mother Nature graced us with an utterly magnificent display of weather for the 2024 Men’s and Women’s Match play finals held today, Saturday 17th February.

In the Men’s Championship, the stage was set for a thrilling showdown between the 6th seed, Jack Allan, and the top-seeded contender, Nick Shortis. Jack surged ahead early, claiming a lead after 5 holes, but Nick swiftly countered with a display of stellar golf, gaining a commanding 3-hole advantage by the 10th. However, Jack’s tenacity shone through on the 11th, sinking an impressive 8-foot par save to halt Nick’s momentum, ultimately leveling the match by the final hole. With nerves of steel, Jack navigated the 18th flawlessly, securing a par while Nick scrambled a spectacular up and down to extend the match to extra holes where Jack’s grit and determination paid off, securing him the Men’s Matchplay Championship title.

Simultaneously, in the Women’s Final, the spotlight fell on the top-seeded contender, Fiona Bunting, and the 3rd seed, Anne Minter. Fiona showcased her prowess right from the start, exhibiting remarkable ball-striking and an impeccable short game. With birdies on the 7th and 8th holes, Fiona surged ahead, maintaining her dominance over Anne. Though Anne displayed resilience, sinking a crucial putt on the 11th, Fiona’s unwavering consistency proved insurmountable, culminating in a resounding 6&4 victory and clinching the championship title.
