Course Flood Update – 9th January 2024

Dear Members,

Further to our update on the website at 6.30 am this morning, it has become more apparent that the course will be closed for the foreseeable future. In saying that, we hope that flood waters will recede in the next few days, which will give us a chance to assess the damage and get the course back to a playable standard. At this point in time, we do not believe this will be achieved this week.

The water has come up very quickly overnight and has continued to rise to this point in time. To put some perspective on the matter, at 6.15 am this morning, there was no water on holes 10, 11 or 12. At 10 am, all three holes were underwater. Currently, only holes 1 and 9 are not affected by the flood waters.

The hope is that the peak will be reached later today/overnight. We will update the website accordingly once this information comes to hand from the Bureau of Meteorology and Melbourne Water.

Once the water does recede, the course staff will focus on the playing surfaces, primarily the greens and fairways, as a priority. We are considering what, if anything, a volunteer force may be able to do to assist with the recovery, and again, we will advise members via the website or direct email with any action we may require assistance with.

Members are encouraged to keep abreast of the latest news via the website, which I aim to update around noon each day. I also invite you to make use of the clubs’ facilities as the member’s bar will remain open for service as per normal trading hours.

With the course not open and golf not being played, the Golf Centre hours will be 9.00 am to 5.00 pm until further notice.

This is obviously devastating news with the course flooding again; however, all staff are resolute in getting the course back in play as soon as possible for members’ enjoyment.
