The top eight players in each category competed in the final round of the Club Championships today. It was amazing to see the best players from each club coming together to finish the Club Championships. The weather started out overcast, which was a pleasant change from the earlier rounds, especially for the women.
When the rain finally started, only a few groups were left to complete their rounds in the Championship. The exception was Will Sheedy and Glen Hopper, who were tied with 250 after 54 holes and had to begin their playoff hole as the rain poured down.
The Men’s Championship was dominated by Jack Allan, who began the final round with a comfortable 10-shot lead over Nick Shortis. Jack’s consistent play and ability to recover from mistakes allowed him to secure a 14-shot victory over his closest competitor, Nicholas Richardson. Jack had rounds of 69, 69, 77, and 73, totaling 288, and this win marked his second Club Men’s Club Championship and his fifth Junior Championship title.

The Women’s Club Championship was a closer contest. Vanessa Cariss started the final round with a 2-shot lead over Deb Guilmartin. Vanessa’s lead quickly disappeared after the 4th hole, with Deb taking a two-shot lead on the front 9. Despite a few hiccups in the middle of her second 9, Deb managed to hold on and secure her first Club Championship victory.

In addition to the Men’s and Women’s graded Championships, the Veteran Championship and the concurrent Maurice Duncan Trophy nett event were also played. Here are the results:
