The men’s final round of the Pairs Aggregate was played on Saturday, with several competitors eager to have their names engraved on the Fred Hopley trophy. The drizzly weather made scoring difficult; however, it was believed that if you played to or around your handicap, you had a chance of posting a good score and winning. The first-round leaders, Jack Allan and Nick Shortis, elected to tee off in the afternoon field, with both pairs tied for second place in the field. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t improve, and it seemed like Mother Nature needed to change her washer, as the drizzly rain kept stopping and starting throughout the day.
In the end, the pair of Barney Greaves & Will Bate emerged victorious, shooting a final aggregate score of 141 and a combined two-round aggregate score of 285, which was fourteen shots clear of their nearest competitor.
Congratulations to the 2023 Pairs Aggregate champions, Barney Greaves & Will Bate!
